I’m Ben Girouard, a photographer based in Québec. I’m drawn to aviation, wildlife, sports and subjects that reward timing, patience and a bit of planning.
I’m drawn to subjects that move, change quickly, or simply make you work a little harder for the photograph. Aviation and wildlife have become a big part of what I shoot, but curiosity usually decides where the camera goes next.
I like photographs you have to earn a little.
I’ve always enjoyed the technical side of photography. Planning a location, understanding the light, figuring out where a subject will be, and giving myself the best chance of getting the shot. But I don’t want the process to become the point. In the end, I’m looking for a photograph that works, whether I spent hours planning it or happened to be standing in the right place at the right time.
